# Sunsetting kproxy

Kentik’s `kproxy` software agent is deprecated (see details below).

**What**: All versions and deployment methods of Kentik’s `kproxy` software agent are deprecated.

**When**: May 1, 2027.

**How**: Kentik will no longer provide releases, bug fixes, or improvements to `kproxy`.

**Why**: `kproxy` is replaced with capabilities of Kentik’s [**Universal Agent**](/v1/docs/universal-agents) and a successor is being developed that will further improve manageability.
