# Synthetics Agents

Kentik’s synthetic testing capabilities are enabled by `ksynth`, a Kentik software agent (see [**About Synthetics Agents**](/v1/docs/kentik-synthetics-agents#about-synthetics-agents)). Kentik deploys instances of `ksynth` as “global” (public) agents in key locations throughout the Internet, and also allows customers to deploy instances as “private” agents within their own infrastructure. The settings for your organization’s private instances of `ksynth` are made on the **Agent Management** page, where you can also see all currently deployed agents, global and private, on a map and in a filterable table providing information (including status) about each agent (see [**Agent Management**](/v1/docs/agent-management)).
