About Featured
The Featured section of the v4 portal main menu offers quick access to a collection of Kentik modules that we've determined are the most commonly used or provide the most general-interest overview of the current conditions on your network.
Featured Modules
The Featured section (leftmost column) of the portal main menu includes links to the following modules:
- Observation Deck: A high-level, user-configurable view of your organization's network, presented as a collection of widgets that each focus on a specific aspect of your traffic volume, performance, costs, connectivity, or utilization (see Observation Deck).
- Kentik Map: A visualization of your network infrastructure, both on-prem and cloud, that enables fast understanding of how components are interconnected and how that affects traffic patterns, network health, and performance, including application delivery and customer experience (see Kentik Map).
- Settings: A landing page containing links to individual pages that each contain administrative controls for a given aspect of the Kentik system, allowing you to tailor your Kentik setup to the specific needs of your organization (see Settings Overview).
- Alerting: The Alerting page shows current and historical alerts generated by Kentik’s alerting system, including the time, severity, and status of the alerts, as well as the dimensions and metrics values involved in the conditions that triggered each alert (see Alerting).
- Library: This module enables both viewing and configuration of the main types of in-portal views with which you can quickly see specific aspects of interest in your network traffic. The following types of views may either be Kentik presets (created by us to address common needs) or views that are custom-created within your organization:
- Dashboard: A page with one or more panels that each display a single representation (graph, table, gauge, map) of a query (see About Dashboards).
- Saved View: A page with one Data Explorer view that has been saved for later reuse (see About Saved Views). - Journeys: Powered by Kentik AI, Journeys enables you to enter prompts in natural language that are each translated into a query that returns results from Kentik systems such as traffic monitoring (flow) or network monitoring (NMS). Successive prompts create a journey that leads you to actionable answers about your network.
- My Kentik Portal: A page used to manage the tenants and MKP packages involved in providing your users with a limited, customer-branded version of the Kentik portal (see My Kentik Portal).
- Recently Viewed: Portal pages that you’ve visited recently.
