Prev Next

The following updates were released to the Kentik platform during March 2026.

AI / Insights

Features

  • AI Auto Investigations: New Auto Investigations tab in Kentik AI lets you create investigation configurations tied to specific policies, enable/disable automatic investigations per policy, set an investigation delay, and assign notification channels and runbooks.
  • AI Advisor report subscriptions: Schedule AI Advisor conversations to run automatically on a recurring basis and receive the results by email with a PDF attachment — ideal for recurring NOC/shift summaries.
  • AI-generated notification summaries: Email and Slack alert notifications now include AI-generated short and long summaries of network issues, with improved formatting and severity badges.
  • AI Advisor token budget management: Conversations handle large contexts more gracefully through soft/hard token limits and progressive message compression.
  • Smarter model lifecycle: Deprecated AI models are transparently redirected to their replacements at request time, so existing integrations keep working without manual changes.

Bug Fixes

  • KMI export filenames: Market Intelligence exports now include a unique timestamp (and the ASN number on ASN exports) to prevent filename collisions across multiple exports.
  • AI Advisor PDF export robustness: Link resolution now correctly handles code blocks and inline code so exported PDFs don't rewrite literal code examples.
  • AI Advisor wide table scrolling: Tables with many columns now scroll horizontally instead of overflowing.
  • AI Advisor emoji rendering: Fixes a case where emoji failed to render in AI Advisor markdown responses.
  • AI Advisor inline code styling: Inline code now uses a subtle background that integrates better with surrounding text.
  • Rich entity popovers: Improves reliability and correctness of entity popovers, including special-character handling and a fix for 0 Mbps display.

Alerting

Features

  • Alert comments API: Create and list comments on alerts through the public API, enabling better integration with external systems and alert documentation workflows.
  • Filter suppressions by device name: The Suppressions & Silences page now lets you filter and search silences by device name in addition to device ID.
  • Bulk create policies from templates: Create multiple policies from selected templates in a single action, with batch tracking and a toast link to the newly created policies.
  • Improved policy type selector: The Unified Policy type selector now uses a card-based visual interface, making it easier to choose between NMS, Flow, BGP Neighbor, Device, Interface, Component, and Agent policy types.
  • ServiceNow Event API support: ServiceNow notification channels can now use either the Table API or the new Event API, with dedicated event templates.
  • Notification template presets & validation: Browse preset notification templates and validate templates before deployment with detailed error reporting.
  • Subpolicy updates with disabled parents: You can now update subpolicies via bulk operations even when the parent policy is disabled.

Bug Fixes

  • Send test notification from preview: The "Send Test Notification" button in the notification preview now works correctly.
  • Preserve threshold settings on enable/disable: Enabling or disabling a policy no longer overwrites threshold frequency/activation settings.
  • Notification usage table: Fixes excessive loading and confusing tenant-policy notification usage display; subpolicies now show individual entries.

Cloud

Features

  • Cloud Pathfinder performance & accuracy: Faster connectivity reports that load only the relevant accounts, with the ability to run security group tests on ENIs and more accurate results.
  • More cost charges per group: The connectivity cost charge limit has been raised from 10 to 100 per cost group, enabling more granular cost configuration.
  • Cloud topology metadata API: Cloud Topology Metadata API jobs now initialize and run correctly, enabling proper fetching and management of cloud topology metadata.
  • Cloud API observability: New metrics provide visibility into cloud integration health by provider and status code, helping identify problematic providers and troubleshoot connectivity.
  • Cloud Map without cloud devices: The overview map now shows cloud provider icons when cloud regions exist even if there are no cloud devices, so you can navigate to the Cloud Map for metadata-only exports.

Bug Fixes

  • Cloud Map loading: Simplifies cloud-export detection so the topology map loads without unnecessary empty states.
  • CloudPak FPS warning: The "Received FPS is high" warning now appears only when received FPS actually exceeds the plan's max FPS.
  • Complete flow enrichments: A failure to fetch kt_ enrichment columns is now treated as a fatal error, preventing flow data from shipping with missing enrichments.
  • Correct SPN credentials: Fixes a query that could deliver expired/duplicate Azure SPN credentials, ensuring customers receive the latest valid credentials.
  • Preserve AWS action/status enrichment: Stops ingest-time tagging from overwriting proper enrichment values (e.g., ACCEPT/OK) for AWS flow.

NMS

Features

  • SNMP polling health metrics: The default flow monitoring template now includes SNMP polling health measurements so you can monitor and tune SNMP polling.
  • Run only listed reports: A new monitoring-template option lets you run only explicitly selected reports instead of automatically including new ones.
  • Monitoring template UX improvements: Adds measurement filtering, bulk Select All/Deselect All, a new Interfaces measurement category, and read-only mode for preset/system templates.
  • Remote SNMP walk for flow-enrichment devices: Remote SNMP walk now also works for flow-enrichment devices using Universal Agent.
  • Flexible BGP MD5 passwords: BGP MD5 password validation now allows additional printable ASCII characters (;, #, @, ,), aligning with RFC 2385 and major vendors. (The space character and ? are not permitted.)
  • IS-IS neighbor navigation: Restores clickable hyperlinks to neighbor devices in IS-IS topology details for easier navigation between related devices.
  • iPower and Minuteman support: Adds SNMP monitoring profiles for iPower PDU and Minuteman RPM1581 PDU, including voltage, current, load, and environmental metrics.
  • Config snapshot soft-delete: Device configuration snapshots are now soft-deleted, preserving records for audit and recovery.

Bug Fixes

  • Syslog recency off-by-1000: Fixes a calculation error that caused devices with infrequent syslog to incorrectly appear as having no syslog data; the Syslog tab and indicator now reflect the intended two-week window.
  • Temperature unit display: Metric cards and tooltips now show °C instead of % for temperature.
  • Optic metrics display: Supply voltage and temperature now display reliably in the interface table by separating the queries.
  • BGP prefixes display: BGP sent/received prefix counts now display correctly for device neighbors by splitting the query.
  • Combined utilization plot: The SNMP interface utilization graph now scales to the data instead of a fixed 100%, fixing inaccurate 0% readings.
  • This/Last Month time ranges: Fixes off-by-one errors at month boundaries for "This Month" and "Last Month" ranges.
  • Overview Map health: Corrects inbound vs outbound health-class assignment in the Overview Map.
  • NMS usage metrics: Fixes device ID assignment for the NMS usage metric and removes stale BGP neighbor entries from the UI.

Platform

Features

  • Configurable landing pages: Administrators can set default landing pages (Observation Deck, Dashboard, Saved View, and more) per user and per role-set, with bulk assignment and filtering.
  • RBAC for Observation Decks: New "Observation Deck Viewers" and "Observation Deck Administrators" custom roles enable granular access control for boards.
  • Permission-aware landing-page assignment: Assigning boards/decks/dashboards/saved views now enforces RBAC and label access, preventing assignment to pages a user can't access.
  • Single panel to dashboard: Convert a single-panel view into a full dashboard with a new "Add to Dashboard" action.
  • Board variables: A new variables system enables flexible board-level filtering with guided and custom variable types and multi-value selection, with a guided mode for managing variables.
  • Add to Observation Deck dialog: Choose which Observation Deck to add panels to from the Data Explorer, instead of always adding to the default deck.
  • Recently viewed Boards: Recent views now include Boards alongside Dashboards and Saved Views, correctly deduplicated and ordered most-recent-first.
  • Query API alpha1: Authenticated, rate-limited access to the Query API via the API gateway.

Bug Fixes

  • Persistent device table columns: Your custom column selections on the Devices page now persist across page loads.
  • Licenses page layout: Fixes z-index layering so license add-on cards overlap as designed.
